Allamah Muhammad Bashir Sahsawani (1251-1326 AH)

senior student of Sheikul-Islam Nadheer Hussain Dehlawee

A comprehensive biography written by the head of the Urdu Section of Markaz-us-Sunnah Leicester, Sheikh Muhammad Tanzeel as-Siddiqi al-Hussaini

Two great books were authored by Allamah Muhammad Bashir Sahsawani, the first being a detailed refutation of Sheikh Ad-Dahlan (the Sheikh of Ahmed Raza Khan Barailwee), called ‘Saving mankind from the devilish whisperings of Sheikh ad-Dahlan’. The people of innovation have failed to respond to this book to date. The second notable publication by the esteemed scholar was published over a hundred years ago by Allamah Nawab Siddiq Hassan Khan and addresses the issue of taking a religious expedition with the intention of travelling to the Prophet’s grave. The book, entitled ‘Establishing the evidences upon the one who holds it obligatory to travel to the Prophet’s grave – comparable to the obligation of Hajj’, is a refutation of the great Hanafi scholar, Sheikh Abu-al-Hasanaat al-Lucknowi. I had the privilege of re-publishing it in 2009 in the Urdu language. The book is available for free download and with the permission of Allah will be uploaded on our website.

Benefit: Our sheikh, the Muhaddith of Makkah, Mufti Wasiullah states: If you want to study the issue of travelling to the Prophet’s grave two books are compulsory:

  1. ‘As-Saarimul-Munkee’ of Imam Ibn Abdil-Haadee, the student of Imam Ibn Taymiyah.
  2. ‘Establishing the evidences upon the one who holds it obligatory to travel to the Prophet’s grave – comparable to the obligation of Hajj’ by Allamah Muhammad Bashir Sahsawani in the Urdu Language.

The distinguished feature of this book by Allamah Sahsawani is that it deals with the subject of Hadith including Jarh wa Tadeel, Fiqh and the Fiqh of the Hanafi Madhab, whereas the book by Imam Ibn Abdil-Hadee deals only with al-Jarh wa-Tadeel.
