[dropcap]M[/dropcap]arkaz-us-Sunnah Leicester is a banner for those who ascribe to As-Salafiyyah. We aim to propagate the Tawheed of Allaah and the Sunnah of his Messenger (peace be upon him) according to the understanding of the righteous predecessors (the Salaf).
The name “Markaz-us-Sunnah” was given to us by one of the senior scholars and Muhadiths of our time, Ash-Shaykh Wasiullaah Abbas, who resides and teaches in Masjidul-Haram, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The Shaykh, along with other great scholars from Makkah, Madeenah and other places around the Muslim world have been a source of advice and support to this voluntary da’wah establishment.
Markaz-us-Sunnah Leicester was set up to fulfil the needs of the local and wider community, to provide a platform for educational activities and to be a means of improving and empowering our society. We do not tolerate or support any kind of racism, nationalism and cast system. We are a diverse group of individuals who passionate about Islamic work, knowledge and da’wah. We are neither a sect nor a group, so whoever wishes to unite upon the authentic Islamic creed and methodology, are subsequently a part of our call.
The head of Markaz-us-Sunnah Leicester, Zulfiker Ibrahim Al-Memoni Al-Athari is someone who has been studying Islaam from a young age. He has studied in the UK, India and Madeenah. He is currently pursuing a Masters at the prestigious Islamic University of Madeenah. The governing body of Markaz-us-Sunnah Leicester consists of various students of knowledge who have previously studied or are currently studying abroad. Our Prophet (peace be upon him) told us that the “Scholars are the inheritors of the prophets”, therefore, we are connected with the scholars of our time as we realise the importance of this relationship.
